Our Weekend with the TAYLORS!!!

This past weekend we drove four hours to the west to meet the Taylors. The Taylors are friends of ours from Washington who moved to Texas about six months before we did!

We had a good time catching up on old times! :-)

A few things we did in a 30 hour period were go to a High School basketball game, play cards, ride a dirt bike and shoot guns!

I have included a few pictures from our weekend. First is Katie riding the dirt bike and the second is of Lindsay riding the dirt bike with Jolene Taylor. I KNOW, we were not wearing helmets and we most likely should be shot for that! We did not let the bike get out of first gear and the girls were on it for maybe five minutes! I guess you can call that my justification. With that being said, we did not have to ask Lindsay twice and she would not go near the horse or dogs! Do not know what that means, still trying to figure her out.

This third picture is of the bullet hole through a gatorade bottle. I hit it with a .22 from 100 yards without a scope! WORD! :-)

I think I might have to change the name of our blog to "THE HICKS FROM TEXAS"

AH YEAH! TACOS TACOS TACOS!

We ate tacos on Thursday night. After we were finished we noticed Lindsay running around the apartment holding a taco shell!

A little while after that, I found the taco shell laying on our end table! This is what it looked liked!

Park of All Parks

Tonight we drove down the road.....oh five minutes from our apartment to go THE PARK. This place is so cool. They have a big time play yard for the kids. You will see two pictures of Lindsay. One is of her on a part of the wooden section of the play area and the other is of her on the swings. I should of taken a picture of the whole area...might do that sometime.

Anyway, in the swing picture you can see some more of the park behind here. Mom and Dad Skogman.....there is wisteria growing on the big green overhangs that you see in the background. Do you think I should give them a heads up on what is about to happen??? :-) BURN IT! (sorry to those who do not get this)

There is a huge wading pool for toddlers during the summer. NICE!!! There so much lawn, I don't think we could use it all in one day of Bocce! (By the way, the grass is brown in the winter! They say it is not dead, just dormant.) It is also perfect for frisbee golf. There are walking trails in the TREES! Yes, I said TREES! There is a huge pond (mini lake) and amphitheater.

IT IS ONLY FIVE MINUTES FROM OUR APARTMENT! Cant wait to show it to you! :-)

It also hit 80 today! :-) Just thought I should share that!

Pictures, Rain, and Church

Not one good picture! We took a bunch of pictures this morning of the girls because it was the first time we had them in matching outfits (gymboree so they are the same but different). Leslie blinks by the time the camera actually takes the picture and Lindsay decided she was done.
We had cool thunder and lightning last night and it poured most of the night and this morning. The first rain since I have been here (katie) it is aparently the first rain since Halloween. The pastor today even mentioned from the pulpit that Seattle wouldn't be as excited about it as we are down here.
Speaking of church, today we went to a great church with an awesome children's program, an amazing small group (mini-church) ministry and an absolutely bible-based preacher. We walked away feeling very filled-up. The only thing is that it is a large church, three packed services, thousands of people. We felt very welcomed, however, and we could probably see ourselves there, but we are not ready to settle down. I didn't mention that the Senior Pastor is Chuck Swindoll. For those who may not know, he is a very well known Christian speaker and writer, known for all of the right reasons, I should add. It was a great experience, and even though we are not sure we will stay there, I think it was worth it.

Play Time

We have found that Lindsay (like most two year olds) has a very imaginative brain! :-) Two nights ago we formed a band. I think we played Jingle Bells and ABC's.

This morning we built a fort and read stories. Lots of fun and a whole lot better than the TV!

Anyways, just a couple of picks for you to see whats up! We miss everyone very much!

Feeling Better

Lindsay is feeling much better this morning. She was well enough by the end of the day yesterday to eat out for Lance's birthday. We ate at this great Mexican place, the food was awesome and Lance's was served on fire! They even gave us dessert because it was our first time, we never told them that it was Lance's birthday.
Here are some pictures from this morning's breakfast

Leslie is getting the hang of rice cereal. Can you believe the smile I got?

Lindsay had to get her picture taken too. She is a little better at keeping her oatmeal off of her face.

I haven't learned how to line the pictures up right, so I apologize.

Lance's sales manager is in town today so he is going around to schools today. Later tonight, Terry is taking us all out to dinner. That's pretty much our day, the girls and I will find something to do, I am sure.

Lindsay is sick again today. This time she has some kind of stomach problem. She stared at her oatmeal this morning (which she had asked for, and since she complained of her stomach hurting, I assumed she was hungry) then she asked for her medicine (antibiotics for her nose) I gave her that and she threw it up almost the same second she swallowed it. Since then she has been awake but still on the couch watching winnie the pooh. Hopefully that is the end of it. I know that if I call the DR they will tell me to watch her for 24 hours then come in if nothing has changed. I was going to take the girls to a park today since it is supposed to be hitting 70 today, but I guess that is out.

Update- it is 2:00 now and Lindsay seems to be doing better. Still a little tired but she is eating and drinking.

What's been going on?

The last few days have been a little crazy around here. Lindsay came down with infections in her eyes and nose by the end of last week and had to take antibiotics. Both have cleared up, but she still has to take the meds. Because of the infection, I (Katie) had to find a pediatrician fast. I remembered that Dr Grubb (my doctor, whose husband is also the pediatrician who checked Leslie out in the hospital) has a brother in law here that is a pediatrician so I looked him up. It was kind of fun talking to this Dr Grubb about the other Dr Grubbs (a little confusing) and feeling a little like we were home for a minute. Anyway, Dr Grubb is a bit of a drive for us so I am not sure we will stay there but it was good for an emergency.
Friday night Sarah and Tyson (Lance's cousin and her husband for those who do not know) came over for dinner and cards. We played Bauslaugh's VS Non-Bauslaugh's (which turned out to be Tyson and myself). Tyson and I didn't do so well. Sarah brought Lance a yummy happy birthday cookie. We had fun. I think Lindsay had the most fun playing with Sarah.
I also thought I would share some recent pictures with everyone.

Leslie, striking a pose.

Lindsay, painting pictures this morning. (It was too cold and windy to go outside today!)

Lounging at the Pad!

Lindsay Here!

Just enjoying the view from my thrid story balcony! Had alot of fun eating my morning snack in 75 degree heat! After eating, I choose to blow bubbles from the balcony. Man, they flew a long way!

I love to go out on the balcony! If mom and dad would let me, I would spend all my time there.

Drew, shoot me a message sometime. Let me know what you are up to.

2006 COTTON BOWL

Lindsay spent her first full day in Texas going to a Major College Bowl game. Can you believe it? We had so much fun.

I was offered two tickets the night before, and I tried to take a customer with me but it was too short notice for everyone I called. I thought it would be fun to try and take Lindsay, so that is what we did.

We showed up about half way through the first quarter and stayed through halftime. She really enjoyed the bands and the baton girls at halftime.

We have officially arived in Texas and this will be a point of update for family and friends.

enjoy!
